SFIA Assessments and Digital Badges
SFIA (Skills Framework for the Information Age) has become the globally accepted common language for the skills and competencies for the digital world. It has been adopted by governments, corporates and individuals in almost 200 countries and has been translated into 12 languages.
Since its launch in 2000, SFIA has provided individuals and organizations a common language to define skills and expertise in areas such as information and communications technology, digital transformation, data science and analytics, software engineering and cyber security.
The use of clear language – avoiding technical jargon and acronyms – makes SFIA accessible as people in supporting roles such as human resources, learning and development, organisation design, and procurement.

On 26 April 2023, we hosted a SFIA webinar in partnership with the SFIA Foundation and SkillsTX. Watch the recording to discover why the SFIA Framework was created, what it can do, and who is using it. You’ll learn how the framework can help with identifying and addressing digital and ICT skills shortages.
SFIA Digital Badges
APMG and SFIA Foundation have collaborated to offer digital badges for individuals who have been assessed against the SFIA framework.
Individuals who have had their knowledge, skills or competency verified by an approved SFIA Assessor against the SFIA Competency Framework can now claim digital badges to showcase their credentials.
Knowledge, skill and competency-based assessments and digital badges are available for each of the 121 skills defined by SFIA. SFIA digital badges are issued by Credly – a leader in the digital credential movement – on behalf of APMG and SFIA Foundation.
SFIA Assessments
Assessments for SFIA digital badges must be conducted by Assessment Partners and Assessors approved and licensed by SFIA. The SFIA Assessment Partner is wholly responsible for the conduct, results, and quality of the assessments performed under their approved schemes.
Details of organizations currently licensed by SFIA can be found here on the SFIA website.
