Office of Government Commerce Qualification to be Piloted in Australia
25 September 2009, Canberra, Australia…. For the first time, a qualification from the Best Management Practice Guidance of the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) in the UK, will be piloted in Australia.
The P3O® Practitioner qualification (Portfolio, Programme and Portfolio Offices) will be offered to around 20 project, programme and portfolio professionals from Australia and Malaysia in Sydney on 30 September and 1 October.
The OGC methodologies are used extensively in Australian government and industry. The best known guidances from the OGC are PRINCE2®, a project management methodology, MSP®, a Programme Management methodology, P3M3®, a maturity model which is currently being piloted in the Australian Government and ITIL® (an IT service management methodology). The advantage of P3O is that it pulls together in one place all the expertise in portfolio, programme and project offices from the other methodologies, whilst providing practical guidance on establishing or revitalising a P3O.
Participants in the pilot qualification will spend two days receiving a briefing from Neil Glover from the UK. Neil is the Chief Examiner in P3O for the APM Group. At the conclusion of the briefing, participants will sit the new P3O Practitioner examination and be the first in the world to receive this qualification.
For further information on taking a P3O qualification, please visit the website of APMG-Australasia at www.apmg-international.com/APMG-Australasia/home-aus.asp. Training in this qualification is conducted by accredited training organisations, and these organisations are listed on the website.
