Lean Six Sigma Certification

Page Banner Certifications

Lean Six Sigma LogoLean Six Sigma combines Lean Manufacturing (originally developed by Toyota) and Six Sigma (originally developed by Motorola). APMG International has partnered with LSSA (Lean Six Sigma Academy) to bring the full suite of Lean Six Sigma Belts to the market. There are now four levels in the scheme: Yellow Belt, Orange Belt, Green Belt and Black Belt.

Lean Six Sigma is a management approach to business performance improvement that has blended the two individual specialisms of Lean and Six Sigma. Both management strategies are among the most used worldwide and have experienced proven success in a wide variety of industries and services.

The application of Lean Six Sigma allows quality and efficiency improvements to be effectively realized. The focus of Lean is about speed, efficiency and taking waste out of a process. Six Sigma focuses on effectiveness and removal of errors. When combined and implemented properly it can be a powerful management tool that can greatly improve an organization’s performance, by providing a structured approach to resolving problems. Lean Six Sigma can help you to bring about rapid improvements, whether in a manufacturing or service-based context.

This course will help your organization achieve the qualitative benefits of Six Sigma, but at a greater speed by applying Lean at the same time.

Why Certify through APMG?

Our partnership with LSSA provides guidelines for training for all Lean Six Sigma Belt levels and facilitates training and examinations through a network of ATO’s (Accredited Training Organizations) around the world.

Most Lean Six Sigma training providers also act as the certification body for their exams. APMG-International has no such conflict of interest as we do not offer training directly. This allows us to truly guarantee the high standard of our certifications and the courses offered by our accredited training organizations.

Lean Six Sigma complements our Lean IT certification, which takes the Lean Principles and looks at how these can be applied in an IT environment. Lean Six Sigma is generic and can be applied to any business process. Other complimentary schemes are Managing Benefits, Change Management, Stakeholder Engagement and MoV.

Information for Accredited Training Organizations

There was a prominent need for a combined Lean and Six Sigma certification within an internationally recognised body. The scheme owner has been running certification in association with the University of Twente (the Netherlands) and with the ECQA (Europe) for past six years. Partnership with APMG International has enabled it to be marketed worldwide.

The scheme now sets a common standard for all Lean Six Sigma levels (Yellow, Orange, Green and Black Belt). The LSSA has developed a Continuous Improvement Maturity Model (CIMM) and four syllabi that specify which of the overall Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques are expected to be included within certain Belt level competences.
