Introducing Mindful ITSM - It’s All About Attitude!

4th November 2013, itSMF UK Conference, Birmingham, UK... APMG is launching a new initiative during itSMF this week. ‘Mindful ITSM’ (MITSM) brings together the leading minds in IT service management to help make sense of a myriad of guidance, trends and concepts. MITSM is a collection of well-considered mindsets for service management practitioners to help them understand and get more value out of existing industry bodies of knowledge and concepts.

The MITSM movement is launched by APMG with support and contribution from Chris Dancy, ServiceSphere; Rob England, Two Hills; Karen Ferris, Macanta; Mark Flynn, Felix Maldo; and Mark Smalley, Smalley.IT.

Mark Smalley says, “Each ITSM mindset equips practitioners with some guidance to address a specific issue. The mindsets are not intended to form a coherent and contextual body of knowledge but to be individual, simple, accessible items that can be used alone or combined with each other. They are more about changing attitudes and behaviour than prescribing activities. The end-goal is to improve the performance of ‘end-user’ enterprises by better application of information and related technology.”

MITSM mindsets take the form of short papers and videos explaining the basic concepts, and can also be the topic of webinars, presentations and workshops.

Mindful ITSM is a movement that is driven by a small group of thought leaders, and is open to various forms of participation by engaged professionals. The content of a mindset is owned by the contributor and where appropriate, mindsets refer to other mindsets and industry bodies of knowledge. Contributors benefit from sharing the content on the Mindful ITSM platform by achieving stronger recognition and in so-doing, a better professional profile.

Richard Pharro, CEO, APMG says, “MITSM aims to stimulate the creation, distribution and use of valuable content for the benefit of ITSM professionals. We are very grateful to our original panel for their participation and we hope to stimulate debate in the wider service management community.”

MITSM is launching on the APMG blog today: http://blog.apmg-international.com/
