What is a Maturity Model, and why use one?
The use of a maturity model allows an organisation to have its methods and processes assessed according to management best practice, against a clear set of external benchmarks. Maturity is indicated by the award of a particular "Maturity Level". A maturity level assessment by an APMG Registered Consultant of an organisation's portfolio, programme and project management will provide the following benefits:
- A known Maturity Level, with precise recommendations on how to improve.
- Ability for organisations to compare their Maturity Level with other organisations, or other parts of their own organisation.
- A big improvement on self-assessments.
- A consistent set of questionnaires and scoring.
- Independently verified and certified.
- An independently held set of "benchmarks".

What Maturity Models are available?
APMG Registered Consultants can provide assessment against the following Maturity Models:
P3M3 Certification
Would you like your organisation’s maturity score to be certified? APMG offer this to any organisation being assessed by one of our Accredited Consulting Organisations (ACOs). An independent APMG assessor will observe the Registered Consultant conducting a selection of interviews and review their final report and recommendation. You will receive an APMG certificate confirming your Maturity Level, a logo you can use on your website and in marketing materials and will have the option to be listed on APMG’s website.
The certificate is valid for three years and is subject to annual surveillance, in the form of a telephone interview. Please contact one of our P3M3 ACOs for more details.
